The Entrepreneurial Mindset
The video games industry is one of the most difficult industries to enter, so what is it that makes us want to chase (what can seem from the outset) to be an impossible dream?
Quite simply because it’s an exciting industry to be a part of and as entrepreneurs, we love what we do. For many entrepreneurs money is often a secondary factor. Sure we all need to make a living but having the opportunity to be in charge of our own destiny is what drives us when things get a little tough.
The Video Games industry was worth a massive £3 Billion last year in the UK alone, not to mention the rest of the home entertainment market. As you would expect, an industry generating revenues of that magnitude will come with its fair share of competition. However a competitive market can often drive innovation which true Entrepreneurs can take advantage of. We are in a much better position to react to change and have the ability to adapt. In a rapidly changing industry, this is a valuable tool to have.
You will rarely find an entrepreneurial culture within larger organizations. They are often structured, ridged and bogged down by their own policies which frustrate customers and staff alike. To implement change across an entire retail network takes time, costs money and often happens too late.
An entrepreneur knows they need to develop multiple revenue streams for their business and are constantly looking for creative opportunities to do so.
They have the ability to think on their feet, take advantage of every opportunity and with a little creative thinking, have the ability to create an opportunity where most people only see difficulties. In this industry, change is inevitable but how you deal with this change is what will make or break your business.
“A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity. An optimist sees opportunity in every difficulty”
