5 Simple Steps: Make a Profit Selling Console Games on Ebay
Good afternoon everybody,
I have put this great Article together in order to help you get a clear understanding of how you can make money Buying and Selling Games beginning with just one Game at a time. It's the safest, easiest and most fun way to dip your toe in the world of Business and will also help you to make the most of the Game Assassin Website (www.gameassassin.co.uk).
Once you've learnt these fundamental methods (which really won't take that long) you can develop your own instinct for Buying and Selling into a very lucrative Business.
For this Example I am going to Buy 1 Game from each of the 3 Categories currently featured on the Game Assassin Website: Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii & Xbox 360.
*Please note that the Prices mentioned in my examples were correct at the time I bought and sold the Games. As prices change so quickly in this market, it is likely that they will not be the same for you*
It is essential that you approach this step in the right way!
A lot of people begin this step completely the wrong way around, they choose a Game they want to sell first and then go about finding a supplier for it second. Doing things that way will mean there's a good chance you will end up Selling at a loss!
Why is this?
It is because unless you are a National Retail Giant with an endless supply of Cash available to buy in huge quantities then you are going to have a hard time getting a good enough price on just any Game to be able to sell for a Profit on EBay. FACT!
What you should be doing is letting the Market do the work for you, telling you which Games are Profitable at the moment.
So how do you find out which Games are Profitable?
I will show you 2 great ways to do this 'The Long Way' and 'The Short Way'.
'The Long way' involves you manually searching the internet which works well but is very time consuming and 'The Short Way' uses the Game Assassin Website (www.gameassassin.co.uk) to quickly find the profitable games for you.
The Long way:
Open up a new tab in your Internet Browser for each of your Suppliers and think of a Game you would like to Sell and Search for it on each Supplier's Website. Make a note of the Price each Supplier is selling the Game for.
Once you have searched for the Game on each Website, check who has the lowest price and keep a note of the price and supplier name (we will refer to this as your 'Supplier's Price' further on).
Now go to EBay and search for the Game again, once your search results appear scroll down and look in the left column for a link which says 'completed listings' and click it.
'Completed listings' is an amazing little EBay tool which switches your search results to recently ended auctions that tell you if an item sold and how much it sold for.
Once you have your Completed Listings showing you then want to sort your results by price (highest first) so you can now scroll through them and see how much people are currently paying for this game on EBay.

Above: Ebay Completed Listings
A lot of new Sellers have it in their heads that you can only succeed on EBay by Selling at a Lower Price than anybody else. If that were true then there would only be a handful of businesses selling on there which as we all know definitely isn't true!
So with the above note in mind, as you scroll through the completed listings on EBay you will get a good idea of 2 essential things:
1. Is the Game Selling Well?
If most of the Games have sold then you know that it is in demand and you shouldn't have much trouble selling it
2. At around what price is the Game selling consistently for?
You can see this by scrolling through the listings until you come to a general price range where the Game is selling consistently.
Note down this price (we shall refer to this as the 'Selling Price' further on).
Now compare the 'Selling Price' to your 'Supplier's Price' from earlier, if your Supplier Price is lower than the Selling Price then there is potential for you to make a Profit from this Game.
If you are selling on EBay then you are going to want at least a £4.00 Profit Potential as EBay & Paypal Fees will come to at least £3.00
If you are happy with your Profit Potential for your Game then move onto Step 2, else go back to the beginning of this step and work through it with another game.
There is however another way to do all of this research in a fraction of the time, see 'The Short Way' below...
The Short Way:
Doing your research is the most important element to succeeding in any aspect of business and unfortunately is also usually very time consuming.
Game Assassin (gameassassin.co.uk) cuts your research time right down to a minimum and is the most essential tool for anybody looking to start selling Console Games.
Here's how quickly you can find profitable games with it.
Login to the site and Select a Console Category

You can also order the list of Games by Potential Profit Selling on Amazon and also by 'lowest priced Games' for those of you looking to buy Budget Games.
Selecting a Game will then give you more in depth detail about it including the current average selling price on EBay, a list of suppliers for the Game Ordered by Lowest Price and a comparison chart of how much profit you can potentially make Buying from each Supplier.
And that's all there is to it, you can literally save weeks if not months of research time getting the information presented to you instantly.
Why spend your time researching when you could be Selling and Making Money now?!

After logging into Game Assassin I first visit the Xbox 360 section.
At the top of the list (which is ordered by 'EBay Profit') I immediately see the hugely popular 'Gears of War 2' Game displayed with an EBay Profit Potential of £9.37.
This looks very interesting so I navigate to the Game's Detail page for more information.
On the Detail Page I can see a full list of all suppliers who sell this Game which are ordered by Price, the lowest being £14.99.
I can also see what the Current Average Selling Price for the Game is on EBay (£24.36) as well as a nice colourful Bar Graph clearly telling me how much Profit I can potentially make if I was to buy the Game from each of the 5 Cheapest Suppliers.

There is also a link to the completed listings for the game on EBay, so you can simply click it and straight away see the frequency of sales for the Game and the prices people bought them for. A great time saving piece of essential research!
So far I have spent less than five minutes finding Profitable Games to Sell and have came up with this little Gem :)
After a total of only 10 - 15 minutes I have selected the 2 other Games which I am going to Buy and Sell:
Skate 2 (PS3) - Lowest Supplier price is £17.99 with a Profit Potential of £7
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (Wii) - Buying for £19.95 and looking to sell for around £25.
As this is an example I am taking abit of a Punt on the Star Wars Game as the Market for it seems a little slow but I can currently compete as the lowest Priced Seller and still make a Profit so it's worth a shot in my opinion.
This Step is easy, all you need to do is visit your Supplier's Website, order your stock and await its arrival through your door.
Most Companies aim to deliver within 3 - 5 working days.
Note: The most difficult aspect of this step is resisting the temptation to open the Games and play them :) very tuff indeed!
After deciding on my 3 Games (Skate 2, Gears of War 2 & Star Wars: The Force Unleashed) ordered them that evening by simply clicking the 'Order Stock' Buttons on Game Assassin where I am automatically taken to the Supplier's own Pages for the items and then complete my Orders.
The next morning I logged back into Game Assassin and checked on the prices and noticed that a Supplier had dropped their price for Star Wars £2 cheaper than what I had paid for it the evening before, doh!!
If I had been a little bit more patient then I would have had an extra £2 profit margin to play with.
Oh well, that's business for you and looking on the bright side it's things like this which help you to learn and grow for success in the future, so moving onwards…

Above: My Games Arrive! :)
In order to maximise the Potential for you to sell your games some things you can do are:
List your Items for the longest amount of time you can, that way you will have more time for people to visit your Item.
Be willing to ship abroad, especially Europe & Australia and Include your P&P Costs to each Country in the listing.
When writing your Auction Item's Title, it is important to use as many keywords as possible which you think potential buyers will use to search for your item.
While putting together my Listing for Skate 2, I came up with this effective Title: “Skate 2 Playstation 3 PS3 Game NEW & SEALED”
This contains very highly searched keywords including 2 variations of the Console “PS3 & Playstation 3”.
Although more people tend to use the abbreviation “PS3” a lot of people also use “Playstation 3” so it’s worthwhile including both to ensure that your listing shows up in either search or you may lose out on a sale!
I have also included “NEW & SEALED” in Capital Letters in order to stand out as people scroll through listings. It acts as a free way to highlight important pieces of information in your listing.

Above: My Skate 2 Ebay Listing, simple but effective!
Package your Games, take a stroll around to the local post office and post out the Games to your new Customers.
After the items have been sent to your new Customers and everybody is happy, all that is left to do now is count your cash!
Here is a breakdown from the sales of my 3 Games used throughout this article:
Skate 2
Bought For: £17.99
Sold For: £25.49
P&P Paid By Customer: £2.99
Actual P&P Cost: £1.99
Paypal & EBay Fees: £3.80
Profit: £4.70
Gears of War 2
Bought For: £14.99
Sold For: £21.99
P&P Paid By Customer: £2.99
Actual P&P Cost: £2.01
Paypal & EBay Fees: 3.35
Profit: £4.63
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Bought For: £19.95
Sold For: £21.00
P&P Paid By Customer: £1.99
Actual P&P Cost: £1.34
Paypal & EBay Fees: £3.21
Profit: - £1.51

Above: Proof of my sales

Above:My Profits in Cold Hard Cash. woop!
As you can see, I made a healthy profit from 2 out of my 3 Games.
That's £9.33 from just 2 Games which is great; just imagine if you sold 10, 20 or even 50 of each at that price!
There is of course the matter of the Punt I had on the Star Wars Game where I actually ended up making a loss this time.
What happened there was as it didn't sell at the end of the 10 days for my Original Price of £24.99, I decided that I just wanted a quick sale in order to get this Article finished and so I auctioned it starting from just 99p.
Remember earlier I mentioned that a Supplier dropped the price of the game by £2 the very morning after I bought the Game. If I had have been a bit more patient and got it for £17.95 I would have actually made 50p Profit on it!
Learning from your mistakes is how you progress in business and after a while you will actually be able to anticipate Price Drops in the Market which you can take advantage of.
That is something I will cover another time though :)
Thanks for Reading
John

Will you advise me on the starting price, buy it now price and reserve price for ebay.
im making the sale buy it now or best offer btw.
Thanyou
it seems alot of work for very little profit and a lot of hassle??
intersting, I like the guide. Found you through the wholesale forums when browsing. I am currently strongly considering joing up to your site.
by the way Pendulum, P&P is no longer allowed on games (EBAY) so you will have to take that into account when considering profit and price.
not sure if im doing something wrong on ebay but i cant seem to charge the customer for p+p so the profit becomes a little less
also when comparing prices on amazon some prices are from the marketplace and the postage costs are wrong. the other day i checked a game price and the postage cost were £4.95 but it said £1.94 on this site.
so im not too sure about the real profits that can be made
I've been doing this manually for the best part of 5 months, I'd actually done ok considering, but since I've joined GameAssasin (about 3 days ago) I've ordered 6 games (Costing me £70) which should earn me a nice £35-50 profit for this week. :) Which I shall keep building on too. 'Til I can maybe earn £100 a week, not bad for me considering I'm student. :P
Anyway, just wanted to say thanks. Websites doing great atm. :D Will recommend you guys.
